Accreditation

The AAN is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.

Designation

The American Academy of Neurology Institute is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Approved by the ABPN and the Royal College

The American Academy of Neurology Institute designates this enduring material for a maximum of 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (for 2018 issues) and 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (for 2017 issues and older) upon completion of the Postreading Self-Assessment and CME Test (approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as self-assessment, CME [SA-CME] credit toward their Maintenance of Certification Program); and a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ upon completion of the Patient Management Problem. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Per AMA PRA guidelines, only US and licensed international physicians may be awarded AMA PRA Category 1 Credit transcripts. The AAN will issue certificates of participation to non-MD and non-DO health professionals indicating that the activity was designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

This program is an Accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by the Office of Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development, University of Calgary, on April 1, 2017. Program accreditation expires March 31, 2020. Canadian participants should visit MAINPORT to record learning and outcomes. Canadian participants can claim a maximum of 14 hours for issues from April 2017 to December 2017 and 20 hours for 2018 issues.
