Event Time: Wednesday May 8, 2019 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm
ELA Type: Innovation Hub
Topic(s): Experiential Learning Area
Director(s): Russell Gore MD
Description: Traumatic brain injury is a commonly encountered clinical challenge for neurologists, with considerable short and potential long-term morbidity.   While many people fully recover from a single mild TBI in a matter of weeks or days, as many as 20% have a more prolonged and complicated course of recovery. Timely recognition and management of patients at risk for complications can help speed recovery. There is growing evidence that new immersive technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, may be leveraged to improve post injury assessment and even facilitate treatment.  This presentation will include an overview of novel assessment and treatment applications using immersive technologies, clinical considerations, and future directions.
