Description: As medical marijuana becomes legal in more states, practicing neurologists need to know how to advise their patients about its use. This session will review the evidence for medical marijuana and related products in the treatment of neurologic disorders, and provide practical information about prescribing, including dosage forms, side effects, and legal issues.
Completion Message: Participants should be familiar with: the history of cannabis as medicine; the current legal landscape of medical marijuana, including federal and state regulations; cannabinoid pharmacology; the evidence for the use of medical marijuana for people living with neurologic disorders; and how to counsel patients about risks of medical marijuana.
