Description: | Faculty will comprehensively cover aspects of diagnosing and managing patients with seizure disorders; review the 2017 ILAE classification scheme, Epilepsy Quality Measures, and the primary goals of accurate diagnosis and selection of appropriate first-line medications; address common psychiatric comorbidities; review the latest advances in each topic discussed; and use video case presentations to illustrate the differential diagnosis of seizure-like events and how to classify seizures. This program complements Clinical Epilepsy II: Considerations Across the Age Span: Pediatrics, Pregnancy, and Elderly, Clinical Epilepsy III: Advanced (Status, Beyond AED, Video EEG), and Clinical Epilepsy IV: Surgery, but covers independent topics. |
Completion Message: | Participants should be able to efficiently and thoroughly evaluate a patient presenting with seizures, accurately apply the latest approved classification system for epilepsy, choose appropriate first-line treatments, and recognize and know how to evaluate common psychiatric comorbidities. |
