C64 - Skills Workshop: Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring
Event Time: | Sunday May 5, 2019 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm |
Topic(s): | Epilepsy/Clinical Neurophysiology (EEG) |
Director(s): | Aatif Husain MD |
Description: | Neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring (NIOM) uses evoked potentials (EP), electromyography (EMG), and electroencephalography (EEG) to reduce morbidity in many types of surgeries. In this skills workshop, live demonstrations and case presentations will provide participants with an understanding of how NIOM is performed and interpreted. The various stations of this workshop will focus on one type of NIOM modality. A demonstration of how that modality is obtained will be followed by an interactive case-based discussion that will cover interpretation and troubleshooting these modalities. |
Completion Message: | Participants should be knowledgeable about the types of NIOM that can be performed, technical limitations of monitoring, interpretation principles, and logistics of providing this service in their practice settings. |
CME Credits: | 4.25 |
Core Competencies: | Patient Care, Professionalism, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Systems-Based Practice |
