C61 - Women in Leadership: 2019, Why Are We Still Talking About This?
Event Time: | Sunday May 5, 2019 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm |
Topic(s): | Leadership, Leadership University, Academic |
Director(s): | Laraine Kaminsky |
Description: | Studies show that women are consistently underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). While the rates of women in medicine have grown steadily over the last century, they tend to be concentrated in specialties such as pediatrics and OB/GYN and are underrepresented in other disciplines, including neurology. Evidence shows that gender diversity contributes to improved performance and effectiveness within organizations, yet there remain many systemic, organizational, and cultural barriers to women's participation and inclusion in the workplace. However, there are strategies that women can employ to strengthen their leadership capabilities and opportunities in the workplace. This presentation will be highly interactive and engaging, drawing on current and relevant research and examples to engage participants in the content and explore opportunities for women in leadership in the global workplace and marketplace. This program is intended for women only. |
