Event Time: | Saturday May 4, 2019 7:00 am to 3:30 pm |
Topic(s): | Leadership, Academic |
Director(s): | Janice Massey MD, FAAN, Orly Avitzur MD, MBA, FAAN, Keri Bischoff , Julie Anderson |
Description: | This interactive, full-day session addresses key topics unique to women in the field of neurology. Those whom have successfully walked this path will share their thoughts and experiences on leadership, negotiation skills, and well-being. Through a lens of strength your leadership style will be revealed so you can become more of who you naturally are. Through conversations and guided exercises - including a core values assessment - you’ll create a customized Leadership Statement based on what you inherently do well. This will become your guide to being the best leader you can be. In a rare opportunity, neurology trailblazers Dr. Orly Avitzur and Dr. Janice Massey will share the most important lessons they’ve learned in their respective academic and organizational environments. Their personal stories, addressing the challenges and successes along the way, will offer insights to inspire and inform your own journey. Negotiation and interviewing skills to navigate your career path, including specific examples and actionable tools will be shared by Selena Rezvani, author of Pushback: How Smart Women Ask and Stand Up for What They Want. Participants will leave with a copy of her impactful book. Through a moving and personal story neurologist Ara Hall will talk about her own journey from burnout to well-being, so that others experiencing the same vulnerable feelings won’t feel so isolated and alone. How to manage your well-being as a physician, mother, and life partner will be the topic of a follow-up panel discussion that will also include Drs. Avitzur and Massey. |
Completion Message: | Participants will be empowered through the affirming language of Strengths to lead and influence with more authenticity, confidence, and intention in areas of communication, negotiation, and work life balance. |
