Event Time: Saturday May 4, 2019 7:00 am to 9:00 am
Topic(s): Movement Disorders
Director(s): David Riley MD
Description: This course is aimed at neurologists who wish to enhance their management skills for movement disorders. Faculty will focus on Parkinson's disease, which is becoming ever more complex as we recognize an increasing variety of disease manifestations and complications. Faculty will present cases that demonstrate a wide spectrum of problems encountered, with a discussion of management options. Cases will address topics such as choice of initial therapy, management of motor complications associated with medications, and recognition and management of non-motor features of Parkinson's disease and its treatment. The emphasis will be on practical therapeutic suggestions. In addition to Parkinson's disease, faculty will use a similar case-based approach to present treatment alternatives for other selected common movement disorders. There will be ample room for questions, and audience participation is encouraged.
Completion Message: Participants should be able to identify common motor and nonmotor management challenges in Parkinson's disease, apply a number of treatment options to solve common motor and nonmotor problems in Parkinson's disease, and formulate a treatment plan for other selected movement disorders.
