Description: Participating in research can add a dimension of understanding to any area of medicine. Involvement may open up opportunities for future training, help with networking or finding mentors, and strengthen understanding of the bench to bedside and back process. There may be many ways to be involved in research as a medical student or resident, ranging from bench research either in MD/PhD programs or through funded fellowship opportunities to involvement in designing a clinical study to answer a question to assisting in clinical research trials.
