Office Hours: Navigating Uncommon Pathways in Academic Neurology: A Journey from Bedside to Bench

Event Time: Wednesday April 25, 2018 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm
ELA Type: The Grand Experience - Research Corner
Topic(s): General Neurology
Director(s): Carolina Maciel MD
Description: Not uncommonly, neurologists engaged in academic medicine and clinical research have prior lab experience in neuroscience: an inspiring undergrad rotation, a combined PhD/MD training, or even a dedicated year in the lab are common background experiences prior to honing the clinical skillset further. What if the scientific pathway to answering an important clinical question requires preclinical data prior to translating to bedside and you have no lab experience? In this talk, we will discuss important pearls to have in mind when your scientific mission pushes you away from your comfort zone and into a nonconventional neuroscience: from bedside to bench!
