Description: Dystonia is the third most common movement disorder, yet is often misdiagnosed. Using video demonstrations, faculty will address the clinical spectrum and classification of the dystonias, and discuss strategies for diagnostic evaluation, including current concepts regarding the underlying causes, and genetic testing, and medical and surgical treatment strategies.
Completion Message: Participants should become familiar with the clinical manifestations of dystonia; current classification schema; an understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of dystonia, including leading genetic causes; and treatment options for dystonia, including medical, chemodenervation, and deep brain stimulation surgery.
