Description: Neurologic diseases, including stroke and neurologic infections, represent 10 percent of the total global burden of disease. The epidemiology, prevention, and treatment of neurologic diseases are constantly changing and vary by region, country, and populations. Faculty will present practical and up-to-date information on the global burden of neurologic diseases from the most recent observational studies, systematic reviews, and reports from the WHO, the CDC, and the Global Burden of Disease Study Collaborators.
Completion Message: Participants should be familiar with the leading causes and treatment of epilepsy in Latin America, know the neurologic complications of HIV infection, and understand the importance of primary prevention for reducing the global burden of stroke.
