Description: This program will provide an overview to a general audience of neurologists and researchers on the initial navigation of novel treatments for neurologic disease, going from discoveries in the lab to initial studies in human subjects. Specific examples will be used to illustrate the challenges that occur during the course of drug development. This program complements C57: Developing the Treatments of Tomorrow II: Clinical Trials in Neurology, but covers independent topics.
Completion Message: Participants should have an increased understanding of the steps involved in drug discovery and development up to the initial studies in healthy subjects, and will have been introduced to strategies for increasing success in later development.
