Description: Data collected intraoperatively, or involving the use of implanted medical devices, has unique considerations regarding safety and consent. We will discuss approaches to invasive research in human subjects including the use of intraoperative neural recordings for brain mapping, recordings from subjects in the epilepsy monitoring unit and research using chronically implanted devices including deep brain stimulation systems.
