Description: With the celebration of 200 years since James Parkinson wrote his seminal Essay on the Shaking Palsy, major scientific strides have been made in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. This presentation by the President-Elect of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society considers where we have been and where we will likely go in the next 200 years. Questions to be addressed include: Will Parkinson’s disease exist or only be of historical interest; will it look the same as today; what will be the diagnostic criteria and treatments available; will we still value Parkinson’s original 1817 essay.
