Description: Epilepsy is a common cause of disability in children. Mechanisms of this family of disorders are being elucidated using molecular and electrophysiological tools and will be described, as will the application of these advances is improving diagnosis and offering new approaches to management. Similar approaches have likewise improved our understanding of neuromuscular disease in children, leading to improved diagnosis and management. Key advances will be presented. This program complements C65: Child Neurology I and C94: Child Neurology III, but covers independent topics.
Completion Message: Participants should be able to describe current approaches to diagnosis and management of epilepsy and neuromuscular disease in children, and relate these to advances in basic science.
