Vice President, HCA Training Program Outreach
Kay Gerth, has extensive experience working with physicians. Kay began her career with HCA, as a hospital liaison more than 20 years ago – a position where she introduced new physicians who were just starting their practices to the referring physicians in surrounding communities. She also provided CME for the physicians and their staffs. Kay was in charge of buying and managing physician practices for HCA – including assisting the practices with marketing and growth – and then when the managed care climate changed, she worked with HCA to sell the practices back to the physicians. Next, Kay transitioned into recruiting physicians for HCA’s MidAmerica Group, which included locations from Chicago, Illinois to New Orleans, Louisiana.
In 2005, Kay developed the Training Program Outreach initiative for HCA. This department provides seminars on The Business Side of Medicine and coordinates The HCA “Earn While You Learn” Resident Fellow Stipend Program. This department, which now includes 6 members, provides 150 seminars to residents and fellows across the country each year and oversees the 800 physicians on the HCA stipend program. Kay lives in Minnesota with her husband and has 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren (who are the reason she moved from Tennessee to beautiful but COLD Minnesota!)
With a Bachelors and Masters degree in Psychology, Kay Gerth initially focused her life’s work with gifted students, creating the first 3 Governor’s Schools in Tennessee - month long residency program for gifted high school students in math, science, arts, and humanities. She then made a transition from working with gifted students to working with gifted physicians! (more)
