| Description: | Tuberculosis is the leading infectious disease killer in the world with more than 10 million incident cases annually. Tuberculosis occurs in every country, with the highest burdens in low- and middle-income countries of Asia and Africa. Central nervous system tuberculosis, including meningitis, cerebral and spinal tuberculomas, and vertebral abscesses with cord compression, causes high morbidity and mortality. The faculty will review the epidemiology of tuberculosis and discuss recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of central nervous system tuberculosis. Cases will be presented to illustrate practical approaches to diagnosis and management. |
| Completion Message: | Participants should be able to describe the range of clinical presentations of central nervous system tuberculosis, understand the performance characteristics of available diagnostic technologies, and make a diagnosis by integrating clinical information, laboratory results, and neuroimaging findings. |
