Coordinate efforts to support neurologists in new and emerging payment systems. Support priorities of the AAN’s Medical Economics & Management Committee and guide the medical economics educational plan. Position the Academy as a leader and indispensable resource to members in adapting to the changing practice environment. The successful candidate will have a health care background and familiarity with physician reimbursement systems. Demonstrated skills in creative problem solving and managing multiple projects, independent decision making, and strong communication (verbal and written) skills. This position gathers requirements, create prototypes, complete thorough analysis and design, develop, test, and build web apps utilizing ASP.NET MVC. The American Brain Foundation (ABF) is a charitable organization committed to curing diseases of the brain and nervous system. Formerly known as the American Academy of Neurology Foundation, the ABF was established in 1992 by the American Academy of Neurology, an international professional association of more than 30,000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals. Since 1992 the Foundation has invested more than $20 million toward finding cures across the constellations of brain diseases. Brain disease affects one in six people, and includes, but not limited to, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke, migraine, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, epilepsy, and many, many others. The Foundation had been financially supported almost exclusively by the AAN and its members. In 2014 the ABF board made the decision to turn to public fundraising and awareness-building to increase financial support and overall impact – and to position the ABF to someday be known as THE Foundation for brain health. The AAN pledge significant 5-year operating support to the Foundation; we are currently in year three of this support. As it declines, the ABF is beginning to execute exciting new strategies, including crowdfunding for brain disease research and an awareness campaign to build the ABF brand. The Foundation is very much in start-up mode, we have a small staff and challenging fundraising goals demanding strong growth.
